About the Role
Meagan Bebenek Foundation a registered Canadian charity focused on creating a world where no children suffer from brain tumours. We are seeking a Family Engagement Lead in a volunteer capacity to work alongside our Director of Operations to increase awareness about the organization’s mission, vision and values with families affected by paediatric brain tumours.
The successful candidate will be a compassionate individual with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to build relationships. They will be familiar with the challenges that a paediatric brain tumour diagnosis present to a family from their lived experience.
This is an exciting opportunity for a cancer survivor or family member to share their personal journey and experience to help shape programming and the strategic direction of the organization.
Requirements
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Represent the family/patient viewpoint within the MBF Management Team (monthly meetings)
Support the creation of an overall stakeholder engagement plan
Participate in strategic planning sessions (quarterly) ensuring the organization’s mission and vision remain aligned with the needs of the community we support
Co-chair the family council with semi-annual meetings
Help create and maintain a family contact database
Provide input into organizational collateral
Participate in the creation of a regular newsletter keeping families engaged and connected to the organization
Work in in partnership with the Communications Coordinator to collect patient & family stories and develop digital content that celebrates their courage and determination
Time Commitment:
5 to 8 hours / month
